At the beginning

Let’s go back to history! The Bastide was on the Roman road from Apta Julia to Massilia. From this time, we have many Roman coins on the land and stone pipes carved distributing the many sources of the neighborhood. Heritage of an ancient time, two square stones engraved with a five-pointed star were found enchassées in the walls. A family story !

My family has been from the Pays d’Apt for many generations. My father’s family had a candied fruit factory and my maternal grandfather ran an Ocher quarry. Between the deep red of the candied cherry and the beauty of orange pigments of ocher, I fell passionately in love with this country, My Country. Mother of two, I chose to stay faithful to this old city of Apt so that my children grow up in permanent contact with nature , the sun and their roots It’s today at you that I want to discover this country in what it has more authentic and more great ! The sweetness of life is here and waiting for you.

The XVIIIth century legacy

Early 18th, three majestic plane trees are planted to bring some freshness. They are surrounded by a large Provençal stone wedge which, in addition to serving as threshing floor for the sheaves of wheat, prevented visitors from getting bogged down in the very clayey terrain of the district. From the 18th to the beginning of the 20th century, it’s the great adventure of silk . The bastide becomes an important magnanerie and the building grows to install the silkworm racks . Mulberry trees are then planted on the edge of the path to feed their leaves these precious caterpillars that are called here lou magnan.
